Logo’s residency kicked off on 17 April and what an intense first two weeks it has been!
After a couple of days to acclimatise (to the coldest April this year!) Logo was straight into his residency programme with meetings and portfolio reviews at the Photographers Gallery and Magnum, library and archive visits and a course on creating digital negatives at Photo Fusion.
With the exhibition on the horizon we immersed ourselves in the final stages of exhibition planning, production and promotion. Cracking our creative brains with the millimetre precision of photographic print production became a daily ritual…
But boy was it worth it. A beautiful set of prints arrived on Wednesday morning ready to be installed by Anna, Will and Simeon our fantastically skilled team. As did my favourite find - a set of trestle tables purchased on eBay which have made for some stunning exhibition furniture.
And as if like magic, it was up! It’s Also a Solo Journey, Logo Oluwamuyiwa’s first solo exhibition is now open and on view until the 22 May.
Developing the exhibition we were keen to show the breadth of Logo’s practice whilst highlighting one of the key themes in his first major body of work - this sense of the many solo journeys through the crowded city. We also had the challenge of distilling an archive of thousands of digital images into a physical presentation for a gallery space and in response have works displayed in a variety of ways from a projected sequence to aluminium mounted prints hanging from the ceiling!
